Preference Map Policy
Last updated: September 18, 2026
This Preference Map Policy explains what your MiTRYBE preference map is, who owns it, how it unlocks product features, and how you can revise or reset it. MiTRYBE is a Weathertop Studios product built around a simple thesis: Don't guess. Ask. The preference map is the living record of what we asked and what you answered. It is not a surveillance dossier assembled from clickstreams, lookalike models, or silent observation of how long you hovered on a photo.
Read this together with our Privacy Policy, Accounts Policy, Recommendations Policy, and Cookies & Local Storage policy. If you want the product philosophy behind dimensional taste, visit Why we're different.
1. Purpose
The preference map exists so one person can understand their own taste with enough structure to unlock honest recommendations and—later— contextual overlaps with other people. Weathertop Studios designs MiTRYBE so a single Florida user with nobody else online can still finish a run, see a map that feels true, and revise any inference that does not. The map is the primary personalization signal for MiTRYBE. Without it, feature unlocks stay greyed for a reason: we refuse to invent a personality for you from thin air.
This policy exists to set expectations. Your answers are yours to revise. Derived dimensions are ours to compute as product logic, but they remain inspectable and correctable through the questions that fed them. We do not sell your map as a standalone product. We do not treat skipped questions as soft yeses.
2. Scope
This policy covers preference maps created through MiTRYBE question flows on mitrybe.com and related Weathertop Studios environments where MiTRYBE is offered. It covers maps stored locally in the browser (including under the mitrybe-profile-v2 key), maps synced to Firestore profiles when you are signed in, and hybrid states where a local run is later linked to a Firebase Authentication account.
It does not govern third-party venue websites you visit after a recommendation, other Weathertop Studios products, or any future social surfaces that display only limited overlap summaries rather than your full map. Community behavior around future matching is covered in Community Standards.
3. Definitions
"Preference map" means the structured set of taste dimensions, answer history, progress markers, and related explanations produced when you respond to MiTRYBE questions."Answer" means a choice you submit on a question card. "Skip" means declining to answer a question when the product offers that control."Dimension" means a scored or labeled leaning derived from one or more answers (for example, structure versus spectacle in food decisions). "Unlock" means product features that remain unavailable until answer thresholds or other conditions are met. "Reset" means clearing answers or map state through in-product controls or by clearing local storage.
"Seed recommendation" means an early Florida archetype suggestion with a because-clause tied to your map—not a live inventory of every restaurant in the state. See the Recommendations Policy for disclaimers about safety, diet, and accessibility judgment.
4. How the map is built
MiTRYBE asks structured questions designed to move real dimensions. After you answer, the product may show a short learning beat that reflects the choice you just made. Those beats are explanations of signal, not claims that we know your soul. Dimensions update as you continue. You can explore the map, tap into what fed a leaning, and jump back to re-answer when the product offers that path.
We intentionally avoid culture-war or sensitive demographic bait as launch question content. The first arena is Florida food and local life because that is where Weathertop Studios will find early users and because concrete tradeoffs travel well across the state—from late Miami dinners to Panhandle pace—without requiring a surveillance model of your politics.
Skipped questions do not count toward unlock thresholds. A skip is not treated as agreement, disagreement, or a soft preference. If a dimension lacks enough answers, MiTRYBE should show incomplete signal rather than invent confidence. That is the operational form of "Don't guess. Ask."
5. Ownership and control
You own your answers as your submitted content. You may revise them when the product allows re-answering. You may reset your map from dashboard or profile controls when those controls are available. Clearing the mitrybe-profile-v2 local storage key on a device removes the local working copy on that device; it does not by itself delete a cloud-synced Firestore profile if you are signed in. Account-linked deletion requests are handled under the Privacy and Accounts policies.
Weathertop Studios owns the software, question bank design, scoring methods, because-clause templates, and presentation of the map. Granting us a limited license to process your answers so the product can function is not the same as selling us permanent rights to republish your full map as a consumer data product. We will not sell your preference map as a standalone product.
If you link a local run to a Firebase account, you remain responsible for reviewing the combined state. If the merged map no longer feels true, re-answer or reset. Weathertop Studios will not claim that a merge is psychologically perfect; merges are technical convenience features.
6. Unlocks and greyed features
Certain MiTRYBE surfaces stay greyed until your map is strong enough to support them honestly. Unlocks are not paywalls disguised as personality quizzes, and they are not secret social-graph gates pretending to be taste. They exist so recommendations and future overlaps have enough answered dimensions to avoid empty confidence.
Unlock thresholds may change as Weathertop Studios learns from the Florida-first experimental field. When thresholds change, we will not silently invent answers to push you over the line. You may need to answer more questions. That is expected. If an unlock appears broken, check whether you skipped items that counted toward the threshold, then contact us if the product still looks incorrect.
7. What the map is used for
Weathertop Studios uses preference maps to:
- Display your taste dimensions and learning copy back to you.
- Unlock features that require a minimum signal strength.
- Rank or select early Florida seed recommendations and attach because-clauses tied to your answers.
- Improve question quality, pack ordering, and product reliability using aggregated patterns where appropriate.
- Support future matching that emphasizes dimensional overlap for a decision at hand—not a single soulmate score—subject to additional notice when those features launch.
We will not use the early map as covert political profiling. If advertising products arrive later, they must remain consistent with the thesis: show what would actually interest someone based on an honest map, not a barrage of surveillance guesses. Until then, do not assume ad targeting beyond what this policy and the Privacy Policy describe.
8. Visibility to others
Your full preference map is not a public feed. Other users do not see your entire answer history by default. When friend overlaps or social features unlock, MiTRYBE is designed around contextual, dimensional alignment. Alignment is not sameness. Two people can disagree about pizza crust and still be the right collaborators for another decision. Positive associations lead; disagreement can be inspectable without becoming the homepage. Details live in Community Standards.
You should still treat your answers as personal. Do not paste sensitive free-text into any future open fields you would not want associated with your account. Launch question content is designed to stay away from bait, but you remain the best guardian of what you type.
9. Accuracy, limitations, and your judgment
The map is only as good as the questions we ask and the answers you give on a given day. Mood, hunger, travel, and company change food decisions. MiTRYBE does not claim clinical, psychological, or medical accuracy. It does not replace your judgment about allergens, accessibility, safety, budget, or whether a Florida venue is open tonight.
Because-clauses explain why a seed recommendation surfaced. They are not warranties. If a recommendation feels wrong, revise the feeding answers or ignore the suggestion. Weathertop Studios would rather you distrust a bad inference than accept a confident fiction. That preference is deliberate product ethics, not a liability dodge alone—though limitation of liability terms still apply under the Terms of Use.
10. Procedures for reset and correction
To revise a dimension, re-answer the questions that contributed to it when the product offers that path. To reset more broadly, use in-product reset controls on your dashboard or profile when available. To clear a device-local copy only, remove site data for mitrybe.com in your browser, which may delete mitrybe-profile-v2 along with other local keys. To delete an authenticated cloud profile, follow account closure steps in the Accounts Policy or email privacy@mitrybe.com.
After a reset, unlocks may reverse until you rebuild signal. Seed recommendations may change. Local and cloud copies can diverge across devices until you sign in and sync again. Plan for that when testing on phone and laptop in the same week.
11. Weathertop Studios responsibilities
Weathertop Studios will design questions and map presentations that aim for honesty over flattery. We will provide reset and revise paths as the product matures. We will not sell your map as a standalone product. We will not treat skips as answers. We will keep operator access to individual maps limited to support, security, integrity, and legal needs as described in Privacy and Security policies.
We may change scoring formulas, dimension labels, and unlock thresholds. When we do, historical answers may be reinterpreted under new logic. That is a software change, not a claim that your past self was wrong. If a reinterpretation feels off, re-answer. Continued use after material map-logic changes constitutes acceptance of the posted product behavior and this policy as updated.
12. Your responsibilities
Answer in good faith if you want the map to be useful. Do not attempt to game unlocks with disposable accounts or automated answering at abusive volumes. Do not export or scrape other users' preference data if limited social surfaces later appear. Keep credentials secure so others cannot alter your map through account takeover. Report product bugs that mis-attribute answers through Contact Us.
13. Florida-first experimental context
MiTRYBE's first field is Florida statewide—not a single city tourism brochure. Map language and seed content may reference humidity, roadside wonders, springs versus beaches, Cuban coffee, hurricane-season logistics, and pace differences across regions. Those references are cultural texture for questions and recommendations, not proof that we track your GPS by default. If precise location is ever required for a feature, we will ask.
14. Changes and contact
Weathertop Studios may update this Preference Map Policy as MiTRYBE evolves. The "Last updated" date on this page will change when we post revisions. Material changes will be reflected here and may also appear in short form on Program Policies. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
