Matching & Overlaps

Alignment ≠ sameness

MiTRYBE matches on the dimensions that matter for a context — not on cloning another person's entire taste.

The philosophy

Feeds optimize for sameness and volume. We optimize for useful overlap.

When you answer either/or questions, you are not filling a personality quiz for entertainment. You are teaching the system which dimensions move your decisions — so a place, a plate, or eventually a person can be recommended with a because-clause you recognize.

Positive associations lead. Disagreement can exist without becoming the product's personality. Harassment and exploitation have no place when social layers open; community standards live in Policies.

How overlaps form

Your preference map is a living set of leanings. An overlap is shared strength on one or more of those leanings in a given arena — food, place energy, discovery appetite — not a demand that two maps be identical.

Friend Overlaps unlock at 50 answered questions (preview until the full social layer ships). Until then, the same dimensional thinking powers Florida recommendations and your personal taste map.

What dimensional matching means in practice

Four principles that keep matching human instead of reductive.

Context first

A collaborator for a quiet patio dinner is not the same overlap as a travel partner for crowded festivals. Matching asks: aligned on what, for what?

Dimensions, not averages

Your map is a set of leanings — structure vs spectacle, crowd theater vs pocket quiet, loyalist vs hunter — not a single compatibility percentage.

Disagreement can be fine

Two people can split on pizza crust and still be the right collaborators. Surface disagreement is inspectable later; it is not the homepage of the product.

Consent and pace

Friend overlaps unlock later on the ladder. Discovery and social features respect that people-optional users are valid — single-player value comes first.

Places and products use the same idea

Matching is not only people-to-people. A Florida food suggestion with a because-clause is an overlap between your dimensions and a place archetype. Object and product arenas can follow the same engine without rewriting the thesis.

Build the map first. Matching quality follows signal quality — which is why unlocks sit behind real answers.
